Technology Transfer and Change in the Arab World || The Status of Science and Technology in the Western Asia Region (1)(1)This report was prepared within the context of activities under project 2.4.2. entitled “Regional Co-operative Research and Technology” of ECWA's 1976/1977 Work Programme.The preparations for the report involved the undertaking of missions to all ECWA member states for the gathering of information related to (i) the transfer of technology processes; (ii) national science policy formulation and planning procedures; (iii) the available institutional, human and financial resources for science and technology activities; and (iv) the current application of selected and relevant technologies.Country missions and the information-gathering process (late 1975 and early 1976) coincided with the preparatory period for the Conference of Arab Ministers responsible for the Application of Science and Technology to Development (CASTARAB), held in August 1976 in Morocco, which was organized by UNESCO in co-operation with ALECSO and ECWA
